May 2021 Volunteer of the Month - Michael Bitson

Congratulations to Michael Bitson, USO Stuttgart’s Volunteer of the Month for May!

Anyone who has visited the USO Center on Panzer knows Mike. Since starting here at USO Stuttgart in February 2019, he has volunteered more than 1675 hours!! He is that steady force at the front desk welcoming all to have a cup of coffee, use a computer, or just to have a chat. But that is certainly not the end of it. Mike does it all! As the lead planner for the Friday Feasts program, Mike can be found manning the grill (and sometimes dressed up as a hot dog!) and serving up 100s of hot dogs for community members. He is certainly the popular one when he visits the bases with the USO tables for lunch! He can also be found supporting other volunteer-led programs in the prep, packing, or cleanup of the events. He is everywhere! Possibly the most important role of them all though, Mike makes sure that dreams become a reality for the center, making the place feel like home for guests. That could be ship-lapping a wall, installing shelving, setting up furniture, and so much more. Mike will always have a smile and a story to share and it will always be a better place just for him being there. We sure appreciate him being part of USO Stuttgart!
